Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about QR codes and Quality QR.

General

What is a QR code?

A QR (Quick Response) code is a two-dimensional barcode that can store information like URLs, text, contact details, or WiFi credentials. When scanned with a smartphone camera, it instantly opens the encoded content.

Do I need an app to scan QR codes?

No. Modern smartphones (iOS 11+ and most Android phones) can scan QR codes directly from the native camera app. Just point your camera at the QR code and tap the notification that appears.

What types of QR codes can I create?

Quality QR supports 11 QR code types: URL, vCard (contact), WiFi, Email, Phone, SMS, Text, Event (calendar), PDF, Menu, and App Store links. Each type has a dedicated generator with specialized options.

Quality QR Features

Do free QR codes expire?

No. Unlike competitors like QRFY and QR Tiger that expire free codes after 14 days, Quality QR's free tier codes never expire. They're yours forever with no time limits.

What's the difference between static and dynamic QR codes?

Both static and dynamic QR codes include scan tracking and analytics. The key difference is that dynamic QR codes redirect through our servers, allowing you to change the destination URL anytime without reprinting. Dynamic codes also support scan limits, scheduling, and A/B testing.

How many QR codes can I create for free?

Quality QR's free tier includes 5 static QR codes and 1 dynamic QR code. There's no credit card required and no expiration date on these codes.

Is there a limit on scans?

No. All QR codes on all plans, including free, have unlimited scans. We never throttle or limit how many times your QR codes can be scanned.

Can I add my logo to QR codes?

Yes! Pro and higher plans allow you to upload your logo and add it to the center of your QR codes. The free plan includes custom colors but not logo uploads.

Do you add watermarks to free QR codes?

No. All QR codes generated on Quality QR are watermark-free, regardless of your plan. Your QR codes are clean and professional.

What are QR Bundles?

QR Bundles are campaign-focused groupings (available on Pro and Business Plans) that provide aggregated analytics across related QR codes. They're designed for tracking marketing campaign performance with features like shared settings and bulk downloads.

Advanced Features

What is A/B testing for QR codes?

A/B testing lets you compare different landing pages using a single QR code. Traffic is automatically split between variants (e.g., 50/50), and you can analyze which version performs better. Available on Pro (3 tests) and Business (10 tests) plans.

Can I limit how many times a QR code can be scanned?

Yes! Scan limits let you create single-use vouchers or limited-access QR codes. When the limit is reached, you can disable the code, redirect to a different URL, or show a custom message. Available on Pro and Business Plans.

Can I schedule when a QR code is active?

Yes! Time-based scheduling (Business Plan) lets you set activation and expiration times. Perfect for flash sales, event registration, or seasonal campaigns. Pre-print QR codes that activate exactly when you need them.

Is there a version history for QR codes?

Yes! Version history tracks every change to your dynamic QR codes. Pro Plans retain 30 days of history, Business Plans retain 90 days. You can compare versions and restore previous configurations with one click.

Can I get notified when someone scans my QR code?

Yes! Scan alerts (Business Plan) send email notifications when your QR codes are scanned. Each alert includes location, device info, and timestamp. Enterprise plans add SMS alerts for high-priority codes.

Can I work with my team on QR codes?

Yes! Team collaboration (Business and Enterprise plans) lets you invite team members with role-based access: Owner, Admin, Member, or Viewer. All actions are logged in an audit trail for compliance.

Technical

What file formats can I download?

Quality QR supports PNG (high-resolution raster), SVG (vector, infinitely scalable), and PDF (print-ready with vector graphics). All formats are suitable for both digital and print use.

How fast are dynamic QR code redirects?

Our QR codes are hosted on Cloudflare's global edge network, providing sub-50ms redirects from anywhere in the world. Users won't notice any delay when scanning.

Why do analytics appear a few seconds after a scan?

This is by design. When someone scans your QR code, we redirect them to the destination immediately and record the scan in the background. This ensures the fastest possible experience for scanners (they don't wait for our database), with analytics typically appearing within 1-3 seconds. We prioritize scan speed over instant dashboard updates.

What's the minimum size for a QR code?

The minimum depends on scanning distance. For close scanning (business cards), 2cm x 2cm works. For posters viewed from 1 meter, use at least 10cm x 10cm. See our size guide for detailed recommendations.

Pricing & Billing

Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan anytime?

Yes! You can change your plan at any time from your account settings. When upgrading, you get immediate access to new features. When downgrading, you keep access until your current billing period ends.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major debit and credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover) via Stripe. Prices are in EUR with automatic currency conversion for international customers. Enterprise customers can pay via invoice.

Is there a refund policy?

Yes. If you're not satisfied within the first 14 days of a paid subscription, contact us for a full refund. No questions asked.

API & Integration

Do you have an API?

Yes! All plans include API access. Free tier includes 100 requests/month, Pro Plans include 1,000 requests/month, and Business Plans include 10,000 requests/month. Enterprise plans have custom limits. See our API documentation for details.

Can I generate QR codes programmatically?

Absolutely. Our REST API allows you to create, update, and delete QR codes programmatically. You can also retrieve scan analytics via API.
